Fascial Movement


As we age we lose the elastic springy quality of movement. And a sedentary lifestyle has the same result as aging in that there is increased stiffness and limited mobility. Fascial Movement classes/sessions is using certain pieces of equipment and movement to restore elasticity, rehydrate, breakdown adhesions and restore tissue slide. Group Classes are Mondays at 9:15 am at Eastern Connecticut Ballet School (ECB) in East Lyme or Tuesdays at 6:30 pm at East Lyme Community Center (ELCC). Private sessions are by appointments only.

Personal Training


Kim is certified as a Personal Trainer through America's Council on Fitness (ACE) and has continued her certification since 1998.  In addition, in May of 2008, Kim became certified as an Advanced Health and Fitness Specialist through the auspices of ACE, the American Council on Exercise, which is accredited through the NCCA via the National Organization for Competency Assurance, or NOCA. Kim is now certified to develop and implement fitness programs for individuals with special needs, those who are at risk, and patients who have received medical treatment for a disease or medical condition and have been cleared by their physician for exercise and physical activity. Kim began personal training in 1990 before certifications were required, helping people find better opportunities for better health as a Program Director at the YMCA in Vancouver, British Columbia.



Benefits to this program are numerous, and the goal is to improve upon core strength and stability, longer, leaner muscles, injury prevention, relief from physical stress and back pain, to enhance athletic performance, and to heighten mind-body awareness. Stott Pilates is based upon Joseph Pilates' original exercise method and was developed by Moira Merrithew, a former professional dancer, with input from sports medicine professionals.



AIS is a unique and effective way to regain and maintain range of motion of all muscles. Kim has attended many of Aaron Mattes' workshops and has worked at Aaron’s clinic in Sarasota, Florida.



This immensely enjoyable form of exercise makes creative use of the natural resistance and buoyancy of water to provide a low-impact workout that is both fun and effective. It is suitable for all ages and different levels of fitness. Aquafitness workouts aim to improve all of the components of fitness including muscular endurance and strength, body composition, aerobic capacity, and flexibility or joint mobility, as well as improving upon neuromuscular coordination and cardiovascular fitness. AquaFit instruction takes place in our heated pool. You will enjoy this class immensely, especially if you wish to cross-train or have any reasons preventing you from exercising on land.



Kim is certified through America's Council on Fitness (ACE) and has continued her certification since 1994 as a group fitness instructor. She was certified in 1987 through the Saskatchewan Physical Fitness Council and, in 1989, by the British Columbia Recreation and Parks Association as a group fitness instructor and trainer of instructors. Kim teaches many group fitness classes in Connecticut. Kindly check the fitness schedule in our brochure for classes and register at appropriate venues.



TRX Fitness Training is a form of suspension training that uses your own bodyweight as resistance, as opposed to free-weights (dumbbells, kettlebells, barbells, etc). TRX fitness training was featured on “The Biggest Loser” and will help anyone, from the sedentary to the elite athlete, to improve their overall fitness through improved strength, flexibility, balance, and core strength. 



Kim is certified through the International Sports Conditioning Association (ISCA). She enjoyed her kickboxing course with ISCA's “Thomas the Promise,”a retired boxer, and she completed both the kickboxing practical and written exams. Kickboxing can be an intense workout and can increase strength and power. Kim uses props, gloves, and music to help motivate her clients to exercise at different intensities.



A Fitness Appraisal is designed to assess your current fitness levels. When reassessing and tracking the results over time, the Fitness Appraisal may be a great motivational tool. The appraisal includes the test, a discussion of the results, and recommendations regarding next steps in reaching individual fitness and health goals. 



Our USATF (U.S.A. Track and Field) Level One Certification qualifies us to coach athletes in running and track and field events.
